Conversations in Color

Opens Nov. 3 with Reception at Rob Shaw Framing and Gallery

On Friday, November 3, from 6 to 9 p.m., Rob Shaw Framing and Gallery will host an opening-night reception for Conversations in Color, a month-long show featuring paintings by artists Sonja Diimmler and Anna Majure. The gallery is at 324 State Street in West Columbia. The artists will be on hand to discuss their work, which will be available in the gallery for viewing and for sale throughout November.

An award-winning artist, Diimmler is known for her dramatic use of color in contemporary South Carolina landscapes, for bold abstracts, and for dog portraits. In 2021, the Columbia Metropolitan Airport featured her colorful lake and Lowcountry landscapes. Rob Shaw Gallery showcased her work in a 2021 solo show, and the Anderson Fine Art Gallery in St. Simons Island selected her abstracts for a juried holiday show in 2022.

Born and raised in Columbia, Majure grew up in a family of creative people. After graduating from Newberry College, Majure channeled her creativity into her interior design, decorating, and fine art business, Majure Décor. She believes art is a powerful tool for transforming ordinary spaces into harmonious displays of both comfort and inspiration. Her bright canvas paintings are regularly featured in local businesses such as Good for The Sole and the Ivy House.

Rob Shaw Framing and Gallery is a full-service frame shop and fine art gallery. Since opening his gallery in April of 2019, Shaw has showcased the work of many South Carolina artists. For the remainder of 2023, the gallery will host First Friday at Rob Shaw Gallery receptions every month.
